How to Choose a Barber
Remember the first time you walked into your barber? You were probably referred by a friend, and nervous out of your mind to be in a new place trusting a perfect stranger with your hair. Nevertheless you’re there, it’s too late to turn back now, and more importantly, you need this.
People are always asking who cuts my hair, so I always find myself referring friends and pretty much anyone who asks to my barber. Here are five tips I give them.
Be Specific:
Your barber isn’t a mind reader, so chances are he’s not going to know exactly how you want it, you have to tell him.
Show Pictures:
A picture is worth a thousands words, and it could be the thing that saves you if your descriptive skills are less than on point.
Spark Convo:
Unless your barber does a crappy job, you’re probably going back. That being said getting to know your barber is a good way to calm your nerves and build a rapport for when you return.
Scope the Competition:
There’s a 50/50 chance you’ll completely hate your haircut, so while you’re in the chair take a look around at the other barbers. You’re looking for their attention to detail, ease of implementation, but most importantly how satisfied the guy he’s cutting is when he’s done.
Always Tip:
Now you’re done and you’re checking yourself out in the mirror. Hopefully satisfied with his work and it’s time to pay. Now if you didn’t know barbers provide a service no different from servers in a restaurant so if you want to show appreciation this is a great start.
(Tip Guide: 10%- Looks Ok, 15%- Looks Good, 20%- It’s Great!)
